United in art: Jerusalem's Manofim Festival returns with art, music, and performance
Manofim Festival returns to Jerusalem with interdisciplinary art performances blending sculpture, music, and theater as it marks its 18th edition. The event runs July 14–18 and is organized around an inclusive approach tied to local life, with participating groups including the Zik Group celebrating its 40th anniversary at Manofim. The article describes Manofim’s name as a wordplay on “Ma Hanofim,” linked to lifting art using cranes to “see the view of the city.” Programming expands beyond a previous plastics-focused format into theatrical and film offerings, performance art, live music, multidisciplinary works in varied venues, and guided activities for children and families. Music highlights include an eastern-style opera, The Fallow Deer Lift, centered on a 1979 airlift story from post-Shah Iran to Mount Carmel. It also notes screenings of World Cup matches on the roof of Artists’ Studios in Talpiot.
