Widow's Bay' breaks Emmys record with 14 wins including best comedy series, 'Pitt' wins best drama

Apple TV’s “Widow’s Bay” dominated the Emmys on Monday night, setting a single-season comedy record with 14 wins, including best comedy series and best actor for Matthew Rhys. Rhys won three trophies and received the comedy best actor prize in addition to being recognized for “The Beast in Me.” The show’s 14 wins beat last year’s comedy record set by “The Studio,” which won 13. “The Pitt” won best drama series for a second straight year, while Noah Wyle repeated as best actor in a drama. “Pluribus” earned Rhea Seehorn best actress in a drama and “Hacks” gave Jean Smart her fifth best actress win. Though “The Pitt” led drama nominations with 25 and “Hacks” led comedy with 24, “Hacks” delivered only Smart’s win.
