World pays tribute to 'north star' Dolly Parton after death from cancer

Dolly Parton has been honored worldwide following her death at age 80 after what her family described as a “brief battle with cancer.” Major artists including Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Mick Jagger, Taylor Swift and Beyoncé paid tribute to her influence, while landmarks across the U.S. lit up pink—among them the Empire State Building in New York, the Willis Tower in Chicago and the Pacific Park Ferris Wheel in Los Angeles. Parton’s family announced her death on Tuesday night, with her publicist Marcel Pariseau saying she died at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Centre surrounded by loved ones.
