Ascend WV gets $2.4M to recruit healthcare workers to West Virginia

Ascend WV will receive $2.4 million to help recruit healthcare workers for West Virginia’s rural communities. West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey announced the funding Wednesday in Hurricane as the latest investment under the Rural Health Transformation Program. Morrisey said the state’s challenge is ensuring communities have the doctors, nurses and other professionals needed to improve care access and outcomes. The Ascend WV program is designed to attract jobseekers and residents to West Virginia by recruiting healthcare professionals from across the country, including incentives such as help with relocation costs and free outdoor recreation access. State Health Secretary Dr. Arvin Singh said the award supports the program’s Mountain State Care Force initiative.
