Blood pressure medication recalled nationwide under FDA's Class II risk level

Inventia Healthcare Limited has voluntarily recalled 13,567 bottles of 25 mg chlorthalidone tablets nationwide after concerns the medication may not dissolve properly, potentially reducing the dose absorbed by the body. The recall, tied to batch number RISA24002 and expiration date March 2027, was initially announced Sept. 3 and later assigned by the FDA a Class II risk level on Sept. 17. Under Class II, a product may cause “temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.” Inventia previously recalled 11,460 bottles in June for similar dissolution issues. The report also notes that nearly half of adult Americans have high blood pressure, defined as 130/80 mm Hg or higher, and references CDC prevention guidance.
