Blood pressure medicine alert as batch halted 'immediately'
The UK medicines regulator, the MHRA, issued a warning after a packaging mix-up involving blood pressure tablets could lead to side-effects. A batch of Lercanidipine Hydrochloride 10mg Film-Coated Tablets is being recalled because some cartons may contain blister strips with the incorrect strength: 20mg. Patients are told to check their blister strips and, depending on what they find, may need to stop taking the medicine immediately. The MHRA says to seek “immediate medical advice” if a patient experiences listed effects such as dizziness, headaches, flushing or palpitations. Healthcare professionals are instructed to stop supplying the affected batch right away. Accord reported one carton containing both 10mg and 20mg strips (batch number M2510877).
