xCruzo Brief
Cigna says it’s expanding an AI-assisted clinical program aimed at intervening earlier to cut medical costs. In a July 23 press release, the insurer projected about $200 million in savings over three years and said the rollout will reach 20% more customers with conditions including cancer, heart disease, kidney disease and high-risk pregnancy. More than 1,250 Cigna clinicians will use the AI findings. Cigna’s existing version is credited with a 42% drop in avoidable hospital stays, and earlier cancer screenings by dozens of days. The company also highlighted Evernorth’s July 1 $100 million “Pharmacy Forward” initiative for its Accredo specialty pharmacy, plus other AI efforts.
