Dad told he was 'too young for cancer' dies six months after diagnosis

Ben Williams, 37, died six months after being diagnosed with small cell lung cancer, despite doctors telling his family he was “too young for cancer.” His wife, Anita Williams, said symptoms of severe pain above his hip began months earlier in 2020, but initial GP tests didn’t explain the problem. A private ultrasound suggested something on his liver, followed by a CT scan that detected masses in his lung. After the January 2021 diagnosis, he was told the cancer was stage four with a 12- to 18-month prognosis. Despite chemotherapy and immunotherapy, he entered a Sue Ryder hospice and died in July 2021 at 38.
