DURING CANCER SURVIVOR MONTH, STATEN ISLAND PATIENT REFLECTS ON WHY PROCURE WAS WORTH THE TRIP
During Cancer Survivor Month, Tim, a retired NYC prosecutor from Staten Island, said he crossed the bridge into central New Jersey 28 times for proton therapy sessions and believes the travel was worth it. After PSA screenings led to a biopsy and diagnosis, he weighed large New York institutions before taking a recommendation to ProCure Proton Therapy Center. At ProCure, Medical Director Brian Chon, MD, provided an 80-minute consultation, and Tim described clear explanations of treatment options and ongoing involvement during therapy. ProCure’s plan spanned 28 sessions, intended to minimize disruption to normal activities. Chon said patients come from across the region, other states, and even outside the U.S. for precision proton therapy that targets tumors while sparing surrounding healthy tissue. ProCure opened in March 2012 in Somerset, NJ, and reports treating more than 8,000 patients, including 750+ pediatric cases.
