Ford recalls more than 177,000 vehicles over faulty wiper, drivetrain and other issues
Ford Motor is recalling more than 177,000 vehicles in three separate campaigns for defects involving wipers, a drivetrain component and a pedestrian-warning software feature, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The recalls include 67,842 Mustang (model years 2024–26) and Mustang GTD (2025–26) vehicles over a windshield wiper and washing system malfunction that can occur in cold temperatures, where wipers may work only at high speed and the washer may fail. NHTSA also cites 42,784 Mustang Mach E vehicles (2021–23) with a pinion shaft fracture risk that can cause loss of drive power or vehicle movement if the parking brake is not engaged. Finally, 66,383 Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid (2024–27) and Explorer Hybrid (2025–27) vehicles may fail to produce a pedestrian warning sound due to a software error. Repairs are free, owners will receive letters this month, and recall numbers are 26V418000, 26V417000 and 26V415000.
