Half of Current GLP-1 Users Say They May Have to Choose Between Medication and Retirement Savings
xCruzo Brief
A Nationwide survey of GLP-1 users finds that medication costs are creating new retirement planning anxiety even among many who feel optimistic about their health. The Nationwide Retirement Institute reports that 51% of current GLP-1 users worry they may have to choose between paying for the drug and saving enough for retirement; 24% say maintaining access matters more than increasing retirement savings. The tradeoffs are already changing behavior for more than half (54%): 17% have taken on debt, 14% have withdrawn money from savings, investments, or retirement accounts, and 14% have reduced retirement contributions. Despite the financial concerns, 88% feel more optimistic about long-term health and 64% expect to retire later.
