A TikTok creator’s “trolling” of AI health tools is fueling debate about how artificial intelligence is portrayed and used in healthcare. Ty Eveland, a 23-year-old based in New York, said his videos—labeled as jokes—use AI platforms that respond as “doctors” or “therapists,” without paid certified medical software. He has shown the systems handling fabricated scenarios, including asking how to treat a bowling ball-sized pimple and saying he thinks he’s pregnant after throwing up a pacifier. Eveland told USA TODAY the agents often mirror his “sassiness” and fail to respond appropriately in crises. He also referenced a recent lawsuit against an AI company for allegedly misrepresenting companion bots as licensed medical professionals. Physicians interviewed said the humor highlights shortcomings in the doctor-patient relationship and stress that humans provide nuance, empathy, and bedside care.
