Johnson City Medical Center emergency department expansion enters new phase
Johnson City Medical Center’s emergency department expansion has entered Phase 2, bringing temporary traffic and access changes for patients and visitors. Ballad Health said that as construction moves inside the hospital, the drop-off lane at the main entrance will be reduced to one lane reserved only for patient drop-off and pick-up. Deliveries will shift to a designated vendor area at the back of the hospital, and traffic patterns along the main entrance driveway will be rerouted. ADA accessible parking will remain available at the main entrance, and complimentary valet parking will be offered during construction via Beacon Hill Hospitality Group, including directional help and added security. During Phase 2, the discharge suite will move behind the hospital and pickups will shift to the heart hospital entrance off State of Franklin Road. Phase 3 is expected to start in 2027, and the full project will add 13,000 square feet.
