Newcastle sanction £75m sale of Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal
xCruzo Brief
Newcastle United has sanctioned a deal to sell midfielder Bruno Guimarães to Arsenal for £75 million, after negotiations that began at a lower figure from Arsenal and a higher demand from Newcastle. The agreement allows the 28-year-old to complete a move to north London after receiving permission to undergo a medical with the Premier League champions. Lyon, his former club, is entitled to 20% of Newcastle’s profit, expected to earn £7–8 million. Guimarães told Newcastle in early July he wanted to leave for Arsenal; he had two years left on a contract signed in October 2023, including a temporary £100m release clause that expired in June 2024 without being used. Arsenal’s offer started below £60m and was rejected.
