NFL defends Eagles' handling of Jalen Hurts' blood clots while union calls for an investigation
The NFL said the Philadelphia Eagles will not face discipline for how they handled quarterback Jalen Hurts’ blood clots, after the players’ union called for an investigation. A person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press that league and team discussions would remain private, and confirmed no punishment was planned. Dr. Allen Sills, the NFL’s chief medical officer, argued the Eagles’ medical staff acted conservatively and vigilantly, noting that medical outcomes can progress even when proper steps are taken. Hurts is on injured reserve and expected to miss the rest of the season after a clot in his left calf traveled to his lungs. The NFL Players Association said a full investigation is required before conclusions are drawn.
