NHS confirms rule change for patients aged 65 to 74 from September 1
The NHS confirms rule change for patients aged 65 to 74 from September 1, expanding RSV vaccination eligibility for older adults later this year. The NHS said it has written to GP surgeries and confirmed that the program covering the NHS Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccination will be widened to adults aged 65 to 74 in certain clinical at-risk groups starting 1 September 2026, as advised by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI). RSV vaccines can be given at any time and offers should continue throughout the year. The guidance says RSV vaccination should not be routinely scheduled with influenza vaccination, though it can be co-administered with the COVID-19 vaccine. General practices are expected to make 100% offers to eligible groups using call and recall. The vaccine in the program will continue to be Abrysvo (Pfizer pre-F vaccine) on a single-dose schedule.
