NIH Grants Boston University CTSI $41 Million to Speed Lab Discoveries Into
The National Institutes of Health awarded Boston University’s Clinical & Translational Science Institute (CTSI) $41 million in new funding as a seven-year commitment from NCATS. The support is intended to help move laboratory discoveries into therapies, devices, and diagnostic tools for patients. BU says the award comes through NCATS’ Clinical and Translational Science Awards Program and, together with companion grants—a predoctoral training grant and funding for early-career physician-scientists—brings total NIH investment for the next cycle to $50 million. Founded in 2008, the CTSI is a partnership between Boston University and Boston Medical Center Health System, and the Veterans Affairs Boston Healthcare System will formally join its leadership. The institute reports more than 1,700 publications and nearly $300 million in outside funding linked to its collaboratives.
