Around 9 p.m. on July 20, emergency department nurse Christian R. entered a patient room at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County for a routine medication check. Seconds later, he was punched in the face, suffered a broken nose, and had blood pouring as the patient fled and then chased him through the emergency department, catching him more than once. The attack included additional punches and knee strikes that left lacerations to his lips. A security worker tripped the patient in the department lobby, allowing Christian to return, where a colleague helped him into a locked supply room.
