Penobscot Community Health Care lays off more staff, may cut services

Penobscot Community Health Care (PCHC) is cutting staff and may reduce services as it tries to avoid declaring bankruptcy, according to a statement cited by the Bangor Daily News. The Warren Center for Speech and Hearing could close within two months if PCHC can’t finalize a deal to keep audiology under another organization. Unlimited Solutions Clubhouse is also at risk, with Kennebec Behavioral Health “preliminarily agreed” to take it over; if the transfer isn’t completed, the clubhouse would close Nov. 30. The provider previously said it needed $3 million in two months and already announced layoffs.
