RFK Jr. stumps in Michigan
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. continued midterm campaigning in Michigan as he tries to energize vulnerable Republican candidates ahead of next week’s elections. On Monday evening, he spoke in Grand Rapids with GOP Senate candidate Mike Rogers, amid a close race versus Democrat Abdul El-Sayed, an epidemiologist and former Detroit health department director. The event also backed Republican Rep. John James, who is polling behind Democratic nominee Jocelyn Benson. Kennedy attacked El-Sayed over a strict approach to Covid-19 lockdowns, despite El-Sayed not holding public office during the pandemic. Roughly 18 minutes into the speech, Kennedy highlighted several Trump policies but did not mention his own MAHA movement on chronic disease. The White House expects the Trump-Kennedy alliance to boost GOP turnout, though some MAHA supporters say momentum has faded and are spending nearly $2 million on candidates aligned with the movement.
