The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says nearly 100 people have been infected with salmonella linked to a recall of nearly 1.6 million dozen white and brown cage-free eggs from Texas. Midwest Poultry Services L.P. issued the recall on July 22 due to potential Salmonella enteritidis contamination. As of an update on July 24, the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were aware of 98 cases in 17 states and 26 hospitalizations, with no reported deaths. Illnesses were reported between Nov. 21, 2025 and June 30, 2026, and the company said it was not distributing fresh eggs from its Texas farms as of July 22.
