Teen Injured in Fall From Six Flags 'Sky Ride' in NY: Sheriff
A 14-year-old girl was injured after falling about 25 feet (around 8 meters) from a slow-moving gondola on the “Sky Ride” at Six Flags Great Escape Amusement Park in New York, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. The incident happened Saturday evening, about 55 miles (89 kilometers) north of Albany. Matthew Howard, 47, and his 21-year-old daughter, Leeann Winchell, positioned themselves under the girl as the ride was stopped and security arrived; they caught the fall and were knocked to the ground. Howard was treated and released for a minor back injury. The girl was taken to Albany Medical Center and placed in stable condition with no serious injuries. Officials said the ride was in proper working order and the park closed the attraction for a thorough review before clearing it later to remain closed.
