Terence Tan, Medical Director of Halley Body Slimming Clinic, Discusses an Integrated Approach to Semaglutide Treatment and Weight Management at the Society of Aesthetic Medicine (Singapore) Conference 2026 | Taiwan News | Aug. 26, 2026 15:05
Dr. Terence Tan of Halley Body Slimming Clinic used the Society of Aesthetic Medicine (Singapore) Conference 2026 to walk through semaglutide evidence and how clinicians should support patients before, during, and after medical weight loss. Speaking on 26 July 2026, Tan focused on the STEP UP trial, a 72-week randomized, double-blind, multicentre, placebo-controlled study in adults with obesity without type 2 diabetes. Participants received semaglutide 7.2 mg, semaglutide 2.4 mg, or placebo alongside diet and exercise. Mean weight change at week 72 was -18.7% (7.2 mg), -15.6% (2.4 mg) and -3.9% (placebo). Tan also discussed patient selection and dosing, noting semaglutide is indicated with reduced-calorie diet and increased activity for adults meeting BMI thresholds and related comorbid criteria, while emphasizing individualized assessment beyond numbers.
