The Latest: 10 hospitalized in floatplanes mishap in Alaska reports casualties after two floatplanes went down in the water near Ketchikan in southeast Alaska. In updates from Anchorage, the Coast Guard said the cause was not known and it was unclear whether the aircraft collided. Authorities initially reported 11 people aboard one plane and five on the other, with 10 injured from the plane carrying 11 and one person missing from that aircraft; the other plane’s five people were also unaccounted for at first. PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center said one patient was in critical condition, three were in good condition, and the remaining patients were in fair condition. A later Coast Guard update said six people were unaccounted for, with 10 accounted for overall. Local reporting said injured passengers were being taken to a nearby lodge where emergency medical services were staging. Weather included high overcast skies with southeast winds of 9 mph (14 kph).
