UChicago Medicine Trials Homegrown Engineered T-Cell Therapy for Advanced
xCruzo Brief
UChicago Medicine has launched a first-of-its-kind Phase 1/2A clinical trial of a personalized engineered T-cell therapy for metastatic ovarian cancer and other advanced solid tumors. The study, registered as NCT07389239, is notable for being fully designed, manufactured, and administered on campus without relying on a pharmaceutical or biotech company. Researchers will assess safety and early signs of effectiveness in patients with cancers that have been difficult targets for cell therapies. The approach differs from standard CAR T cells by using engineered T-cell receptors to recognize intracellular protein fragments presented via major histocompatibility complex molecules, aiming to better address solid-tumor immune barriers.
