Uganda Says It's Ebola Free As Cases In Congo Near Record Numbers

Uganda’s health authorities said the country is officially Ebola-free after its last confirmed patient finished a 42-day monitoring period without contracting or spreading the virus. The government reported 20 confirmed Ebola cases and two deaths in Uganda, and said there are no active or potential cases, while urging residents to remain alert and keep following public health measures. In neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo, the health ministry reported 3,262 cases and 1,437 deaths, calling it the fastest spreading Ebola outbreak on record, just behind the 2018–2020 wave of more than 3,400 cases.
