xCruzo Brief
A methodological study published in PLOS One reports a successful cross-cultural adaptation of the Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire (MLHFQ) into Urdu for patients in Pakistan. Led by Ambreen Gowani of Aga Khan University with co-authors including Colleen Norris, Gail Low, Khairulnissa Ajani, Ahmed Noor and Matthias Hoben, the work addresses a known problem in patient-reported outcomes: translating questionnaires can distort meaning when vocabulary and phrasing differ. The team used MAPI Research Trust’s five-step linguistic validation process, adding a modified Delphi panel. Results aim to support more reliable quality-of-life measurement and better comparability in heart-failure research across settings.
