Weight-Loss Supplement Recalled Nationwide After FDA Finds Undeclared Toxic Chemical

A weight-loss supplement is being recalled nationwide after FDA testing found two undeclared ingredients, including 2,4-dinitrophenol (DNP), described by federal officials as extremely dangerous and not approved for use in humans. Florida-based Ana Salazar Modela Tu Cuerpo Inc. recalled Lipofit Extreme Fat Burner 2.0. The FDA found undeclared fluoxetine in the product’s daytime (AM) tablets and DNP in its nighttime (PM) tablets. The recall covers lot number 25M12F with an expiration date of September 2027. Sold directly online and distributed nationwide, the product had prompted an FDA warning in June not to purchase it. The company said fluoxetine or DNP cannot legally be marketed as dietary supplements.
