Arrogant" Sunderland struggling in Premier League but what is wrong with Black Cats?
Sunderland’s early Premier League struggles have triggered sharp, blunt criticism inside the club after a 2-0 loss to Bournemouth on Sunday. Nordi Mukiele called the performances “not good enough” and suggested arrogance may be part of the problem, adding, “Maybe because we became arrogant.” The defeat extended their run to a fourth straight league loss, leaving them second from bottom. Coach Regis le Bris said Sunderland were “below the level” and insisted the team “won’t find excuses,” pointing to a busy schedule. After seven games last season, Sunderland had 11 points; this season they have four points from one win, one draw and five defeats. In Europe, they are 100% after wins over AZ Alkmaar and Torreense, but both league and post-European games have gone badly. Shay Given warned that the squad may not be deep enough for sustained demands, though he believes they can still be safe.
