Bruins Already Want Trade After 1 Game

Henri Jokiharju is already the subject of trade chatter after the Boston Bruins placed him on waivers, a move that could send him to the AHL affiliate in Providence if no NHL team claims him. The waiver placement comes roughly 12 hours after Boston’s 3-0 season-opening win over the New York Rangers, but Jokiharju was not on the NHL roster at the time. He’s in the second season of a three-year, $9 million contract and has faced reduced NHL opportunities after Boston added William Borgen and Connor Clifton in the offseason. Reporting from Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman said the Bruins are looking to trade Jokiharju. The Athletic noted Jokiharju played 41 games for Boston in 2025-26 and became a regular healthy scratch, with the team’s right-side depth making him expendable. If he stays on the roster, his workload and veteran experience remain the Bruins’ rationale for moving him only selectively.
