Cancelled ferry service causes issues for Guernsey sports clubs
xCruzo Brief
The suspension of a passenger ferry between Jersey and Guernsey has disrupted local sports schedules, clubs say. Islands Unlimited halted its service until 10 September after a “major failure” in the MV San Pawl’s starboard main engine. Guernsey Cricket said it has chartered boats to Jersey to play upcoming matches, with chief operating officer Richard Headington calling the extra expense “significant” and describing a “bit of a panic.” The Guernsey Triathlon Club, which hosts the Granite Weekender next Saturday and Sunday, expects about 30 Jersey Tri Club athletes but said bike travel by air is impractical. Brittany Ferries will transport bikes, and Bailiwick Boat Charters will run twice.
