Characterful Kerry Hills shine at CCM Skipton annual show and sale

Kerry Hill breeders from across the UK gathered for the annual show and sale at CCM Skipton on Monday, with the day producing standout champions and strong trade. Judge Yvonne Brown of Blackburn selected a ram lamb from the Fairfax flock of Rob and Louise Barritt, of Long Lee, Keighley, as champion. The reserve champion also came from the Crag Top flock of local vendors Rowan Leach and Tia Rogers, Hebden Bridge, whose shearling ram—shown by their young nephew Charlie Leach—sold for 350gns to L Burrows in Addingham. Brown said the contest was close, praising the champion as “completely correct all round.” Additional shearling rams reached 350gns and top prices included a Welsh gimmer shearling that sold for 450gns. Ewe lambs topped at 420gns, including Fairfax Kracker and Fairfax Katie sold by the Barritts.
