Chicago Fire acquire winger Johan Gómez from Eintracht Braunschweig

Chicago Fire FC announced Wednesday that it has acquired winger Johan Gómez from German 2. Bundesliga club Eintracht Braunschweig. The 25-year-old, a former US youth international, is signed through the 2028-29 season with an option for 2029-30. Gómez is a product of the FC Dallas Academy and has recorded 21 goals and 16 assists in 203 professional appearances across stints including North Texas SC, FC Porto’s reserves, FSV Zwickau, and Eintracht Braunschweig. Internationally, he represented the United States at U-20 and U-23 levels. Chicago’s Gregg Berhalter said Gómez’s versatility adds flexibility, and the Fire sit third in the Eastern Conference with 37 points.
