Club Volo brings a new place for San Jose to play downtown
Club Volo brings a new place for San Jose to play downtown reports that the Serpentine Pavilion in San Jose’s SoFA district, long idle after five years, has reopened as Club Volo, a new downtown sports hub. The venue opened last weekend with facilities for pickleball, beach volleyball, futsal and other games, backed by Volo Sports’ adult recreational league model that has operated in San Jose for three years. According to Volo’s San Jose director Colin Hanahoe, participation grew from two leagues and 25 players to about 6,000 people, including soccer, volleyball and basketball, along with happy hours and social events. The site welcomed visitors after a ribbon cutting, and San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan joined a pickleball session. Club Volo runs hours from 5–10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 3–10 p.m. on Friday, plus weekend sessions and an extra Sunday evening window. It also hosted World Cup watch parties and will hold more for quarterfinals on July 11 and the final on July 19.
