Couple who bought a cruise ship cabin break down the real costs of living on board
Couple who bought a cruise ship cabin break down the real costs of living on board: a couple running the YouTube channel Living Life on a Cruise detailed the pricing and monthly expenses of full-time life aboard the residential ship Villa Vie Odyssey. Johan Bodin and Lanette Canen said they have been on board for almost two years and described options for buying or renting a cabin rather than returning to a single home port. They said interior cabin prices start at $99,000 upfront, plus $4,000 per month in maintenance fees for double occupancy, with a solo discount. Alternative entry plans include a five-year option at $60,000 upfront with monthly fees of $4,500 for couples or $3,300 for solo, and a three-year, no-maintenance-fee option priced at $100,000. For those not ready to commit, they cited a rent-to-own scheme from $125 per person per day and a one-off “Endless Horizons” package at $350,000 covering the life of the ship. They also listed additional recurring costs, including streaming subscriptions, phone service around $100 per month, travel insurance around $400 monthly, excursions about $500, and bar drinks estimated between $4 and $7.
