Defibrillator at Fermanagh angling club named among most extraordinary in UK

A defibrillator installed at the Garrison and Lough Melvin Anglers Association in County Fermanagh has been highlighted by the British Heart Foundation as one of the most extraordinary defibrillators in the UK. The device is part of the charity’s push to reach 125,000 defibrillators registered on The Circuit, the country’s national defibrillator network. Fearghal McKinney, head of BHF Northern Ireland, said registering devices helps ambulance services direct people to the nearest available defibrillator when seconds matter. The BHF noted that just under 123,000 defibrillators are currently registered. The club’s treasurer, Woodrow Acheson, said the device—described as the UK’s most westerly registered—has been in place for four or five years and is available to the wider community.
