Dom Young locks in future with major contract decision
Dominic Young has ended speculation about his future by signing a new long-term contract with the Newcastle Knights, keeping the star winger at the club until the end of 2030. Newcastle confirmed the deal after earlier reports suggested the parties were close, and framed it as part of long-term planning. The agreement follows negotiations that initially “did not run smoothly,” with Young reportedly rejecting Newcastle’s first offer after believing the club had undervalued him. Those differences were resolved, and Young’s return to Newcastle after a mid-year stint with the Sydney Roosters helped him rebuild form. He is expected to be available for the opening week of the finals after serving a one-match suspension for a hip-drop tackle on Manly’s Tolutau Koula.
