Drake Baldwin (oblique) to join Gwinnett Stripers on a rehab assignment
Drake Baldwin will begin a rehab assignment with the Gwinnett Stripers this Saturday, after being on the 10-day injured list with an oblique strain suffered May 18 in Atlanta’s 12-0 loss to the Marlins. He’s undergone live pitching sessions at the club’s Florida spring complex and could return as early as Tuesday when Atlanta opens a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants. The 25-year-old catcher has posted a .931 OPS with 13 homers and 38 RBIs in 48 games this season, providing a steady offensive spark. In his absence, Braves catchers Sandy León, Chadwick Tromp and Austin Wynns have gone 7-for-63 with three RBIs, and Tromp was designated for assignment on June 4. If all goes well, Baldwin could be back in action shortly after his rehab begins.
