Former Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Larry Christenson died unexpectedly at 72 while on a fishing trip with family and friends in Washington state, the team confirmed. The circumstances weren’t released. Christenson spent his entire 11-year major league career with the Phillies (1973–83) after being selected in the third round of the 1972 MLB Draft. He was part of the 1980 World Series championship team and the 1983 NL pennant-winning club. One of his signature moments came in 1977, when his grand slam against the Chicago Cubs helped the Phillies secure the NL East crown.
