Family issues statement after baby girl dies on camping trip

Four people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a three-month-old baby girl died during a camping trip in Staffordshire, police said. The family released a statement asking for privacy as Staffordshire Police continued investigations. A 42-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman from south Staffordshire were arrested, alongside a 20-year-old woman from Wolverhampton and an 18-year-old man from Walsall; all four were granted bail. Officers were called to a fishing lake in the Wyrley and Essington canal nature reserve on Saturday, September 5, after reports of a child in cardiac arrest, and the girl died at the scene in Great Wyrley. The site is reportedly not a designated camping ground.
