Fish and Wildlife Club offers educational outdoor experience
Starting in 2024, the Fish and Wildlife Club (FWC) at the University of Calgary, in partnership with the Students’ Union, is set to offer students hands-on experiences focused on environmental conservation and outdoor activities. The club’s mission emphasizes building skills in areas such as fisheries management, wildlife and habitat reclamation, ecology, and sustainability, with an inclusive approach for students from all backgrounds. Co-President Noah Gordon, a third-year nursing student, said the club was founded two years ago after noticing other outdoor clubs were more activity-based, lacking a conservation focus. Events have included fish rescue work, hiking, ice fishing, and regular fishing, plus indoor trivia nights and movie events.
