Former DPP lawmaker attends KMT's Ko Chih-en's rally | Taiwan News | Oct. 5, 2026 14:32
KMT mayoral candidate Ko Chih-en (柯志恩) held a campaign rally on Sunday inviting former DPP lawmaker Hsu Kuo-tai (許國泰) to speak in Kaohsiung, according to Taiwan News. Hsu accused the DPP of betraying its founding ideals of caring for the people and the less fortunate, citing a widening income gap between Singapore and Taiwan during his time in office. He praised Ko for staying in Kaohsiung after losing the 2022 mayoral election and noted many longtime DPP members attended. Ko thanked Hsu and urged voters to hold the DPP accountable, while citing controversies including illegal excavation in Meinong District and calling for protection of Kaohsiung’s environment. Hsu has drifted from the DPP since 2018, supporting Hou Yu-ih’s unsuccessful 2024 presidential bid, per reporting cited in the article.
