Fugitive in Atlanta club owner's death nabbed in Jacksonville

Jonathan David Soto, one of Atlanta’s top 10 most-wanted fugitives, was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 23, in Jacksonville, Florida, the sheriff’s office said. Working with the Atlanta Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, a SWAT team tracked the 43-year-old to an apartment complex on North Gate Parkway. Officials said Soto refused to come out after the area was surrounded, leading to an “energetic door breach” to safely take him into custody. Atlanta police tied Soto to the Feb. 4, 2023 killing of 50-year-old Michael Gidewon outside the Republic Lounge, a club Soto co-owned.
