Golf news: Rory McIlroy receives message as rule change threatens Ryder Cup bans - AOL

Rory McIlroy headlines the DP World India Championship at Delhi Golf Club on Thursday as the Race to Dubai intensifies. McIlroy is third in the standings and within striking distance of leader Patrick Reed after Reed missed the cut at last week’s Spanish Open. The tournament is also timed for players pushing toward the November DP World Tour Championship. DP World Tour chief Guy Kinnings praised McIlroy as a key ambassador, saying he’s an “immense asset.” Elsewhere, Tiger Woods made a rare public appearance at Pebble Beach for his TGR Junior Invitational after not playing competitive golf since 2024. A separate rule threatens Ryder Cup eligibility: European players must be DP World Tour members and “make a choice” if joining LIV Golf 2.0.
