Golf Tournament Seeks $30,000 To Support 1,200 Southern Maryland Youth

Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maryland is aiming to raise $30,000 through its second annual Southern Maryland Golf Classic on Monday, Sept. 28 at Swan Point Yacht & Country Club in Issue, Md. The event starts with a shotgun at 10 a.m. Organizers say proceeds will support programs for about 1,200 children and teens across Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties. The club, which serves young people ages 6 to 18, operates in Lexington Park, Indian Head and North Beach, plus programs at Malcolm and Calvert elementary schools, with a Carver Recreation Center club planned. Registration for foursomes and sponsorships closes Sept. 11.
