Armenia’s government has approved a draft law to begin ratifying a Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement with the United States tied to the TRIPP project— the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity,” according to Armenpress. Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said the decision starts the ratification process, beginning with review by Armenia’s Constitutional Court before submission to the National Assembly if it complies with the constitution. The minister noted the agreement was initialed in Yerevan in May 2026, then signed in Washington and Yerevan in early June. The framework aims to strengthen peace, stability, and economic development in the South Caucasus through transportation links, infrastructure, and trade. It creates a TRIPP Development Company to oversee implementation and potentially set up subsidiaries. For an initial 49-year period, the United States would hold 74% of the company while Armenia would hold 26%. If the partnership is extended another 50 years, Armenia’s stake would rise automatically to 49% without new investment. Mirzoyan said Armenia retains control over border security, customs, migration, law enforcement, taxation, and other state functions.
