Homegrown top prospect looking to make D-backs history after Fall League stint
xCruzo Brief
A homegrown Arizona prospect is nearing a rare path to the Diamondbacks’ big league roster. Nogales native Demetrio Crisantes, the D-backs’ 2022 seventh-round pick, is targeting a Chase Field debut that would make him the first Arizona-born player to be drafted by and debut for the franchise. Signed for an over-slot $425,000, he opened his pro career with a .347 average in the Arizona Complex League and has shown strong bat-to-ball skills. In 2025 with High-A Hillsboro, his development was slowed by a posterior labral tear in his left shoulder in mid-May, but he returned with homers on May 26 and resumed a fast track.
