Hundreds attend Glasgow Green anti-immigration and counter protests

Hundreds of people gathered in Glasgow Green for an anti-immigration rally and a linked counter protest organized by Pink Ladies. Stand Up To Racism (SUTR) and other groups staged their demonstration in a separate section of the park, with the People’s Palace and heavy police presence helping contain the two sides. Chief Superintendent Stevie Dolan warned of a “strong response” to any violence after July flashpoints at the same location. Scottish government minister Alison Thewliss and MSP Iris Duane attended SUTR’s event, alongside STUC general secretary Roz Foyer, who criticized using violence to stoke “more hate” and fear. Reform UK figures also attended.
