Libya signs deal to host African-Turkish summit in Tripoli | The Libya Observer

Libya has signed a host country agreement to hold the African-Turkish summit in Tripoli on 8–9 December 2026. The agreement was signed in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, by Abdulhakim Gheith, Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs at Libya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Libya’s behalf. Steve Lalande, Director of Partnerships and Resource Mobilisation at the African Union Commission, signed for the African Union. Libya’s foreign ministry said the deal is an important step in preparations to host a major continental and international event in Tripoli and reflects confidence in Libya’s ability to deliver. It also said it reinforces efforts to strengthen Africa–Turkey cooperation.
