MAGA Senate hopeful embarrassed as almost no one shows up to GOP-funded rally: report
A GOP-funded rally supporting Republican Senate hopeful Mike Rogers drew an extremely small crowd, according to photos shared by critics. The Bulwark’s Joe Perticone posted images on X from a Saturday event: the parking lot appeared mostly empty, with only a handful of attendees scattered, a few folding chairs near a mural, and a television camera set up on a tripod while a microphone lay on the ground. MeidasTouch mocked the turnout, saying it was like “astroturf” meeting “actual turf.” Rogers, a former Michigan congressman who once chaired the House Intelligence Committee, faces Democrat Abdul El-Sayed for Michigan’s open Senate seat. The supporting group, now called TFM, says it aims to win over Democrats, but filings show funding largely from wealthy Republican donors, including a $250,000 check from Penske.
